This will be a temporary site until the UTRGV platform comes on line. I hope that you find the site easy to navigate. It will be in three sections: Course Objectives, Course Assignments, and Calendar.
The syllabus can be obtained by clicking on this LINK. If you have trouble getting to it then copy and paste the following url: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1se8cNHUmZEW7gsZjtDIPtCCZtoQPsoBz6-v7TPppLRY/edit?usp=sharing
The book for this course is Diversity and Equity in Science Education: Research, Policy, and Practice by Okhee Lee and Cory A. Buxton. I ordered the book to be at the bookstore, but I ordered mine on Amazon for about $42.00. I ordered it on Dec 8th and received it on Dec 10th. It may take a little longer depending on where you live. Presently, there are 14 in stock from the vendor that I purchased it from. I don't know how much they are in the bookstore.
On the Course Assignments page you will find this week's assignment. We won't start on the book until next week. There are eleven chapters, so we should have plenty of time to go through all of it plus the chapter activities.
As some of you may know, I'm living in New York this semester so everything will be done online asynchronously. If there is a need to meet individually or in small groups, we'll use Zoom or Hangouts. My preference is Zoom.us. I think many of you are familiar with this format.
Small group discussions would be great for me since I'm also homeschooling my grandson which takes up allot of my time, plus I have to get him to rehearsals and performances throughout the day. We'll try to meet when its mutually agreeable to all of us.
Hope this blog helps us get through the first part of the course. I don't have access to everyone's email so if possible share the link with others in the class.
Thank you.
